Jay Gupta

Born in Pune, Jay Gupta was with the youth sides of the now defunct FC Pune City and spent five years in Portugal with the junior teams. He joined GD Estoril Praia’s Elite Program in September 2017, then moved to Grupo Dramatico E Sportivo De Cascais’ under-19 team in 2019 and spent two years at Estoril Praia’s B team.

Later last year, he moved to Spain where he joined Ebre Escola Esportiva and spent six months in the Spanish sixth tier. When it was pre-season time here, the defender returned, this time under the watchful eyes of FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez as he trialled with the Club.

Impressed with his ability, the Club signed him ahead of the 2023 edition of the Durand Cup where he made his debut and did well in general as the Gaurs reached the semi-final.

He is now a part of the FC Goa squad for ISL 2023-24, and will hope to create an even bigger impact as the Men in Orange challenge for the top honours in Indian football.
