My Best XI: Edu Bedia picks his all-time greatest XI

In our “My Best XI” series, we take a look at the best lineups that our FC Goa players think they have ever seen, and this time it is Edu Bedia sharing a strong eleven that may well have won trophies for fun if they ever played together.

As we saw with the eleven of Coro, Edu’s side too has a bit of Barcelona flavour to it, and includes many of the best players from the club in recent memory.

Starting from the back, it’s evergreen goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon between the sticks, and in front of him is an able backline consisting of Dani Alves, Carles Puyol and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk may only have been playing at the very top level for a few years, but clearly has the attributes to remain at the top for many years to come.

Following in the footsteps of an impressive defence is an equally impressive midfield, marshalled by Barcelona legends Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.

Edu himself refers to Xavi as his “idol”, and it is no surprise then that the decorated Spaniard makes it to the heart of midfield.

Further up, Real Madrid and France hero Zinedine Zidane plays in the number 10 role, with some esteemed company for support down the wings in Brazilian legend Ronaldinho and Portuguese hitman Cristiano Ronaldo.

The team is supported by two natural goal scorers up front in Ronaldo Nazario and Lionel Messi, and looks like the kind of team that would scare opposition sides with just one look.

With Coro and Edu the two players revealing their best elevens thus far, choosing just one will be a decision we surely wouldn’t want to make.
