The FC Goa first team appears to be on its way to something special in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), and it seems like the effect has rubbed off on the juniors as well.

The FC Goa Developmental, U-18, U-16 and U-14 teams have all been in action during the month of January, and some excellent football has been on show.

Goan football has been graced with the genius of a new generation, and here is how the youngsters fared at the start of the new decade.

Mixed January for the Dev Team

The FC Goa Developmental Team has been the gateway to the first team for many youngsters keen to make a splash on the big stage, and January was always going to be an important month for these players.

The Dev Team began the month with a Goa Professional League game against Corps of Signals, and came away with a comfortable 3-1 victory.

The form of Aaren D’Silva throughout the month looks promising, and a couple of goals for the forward in this game were the catalyst for another solid performance.

The Gaurs were beaten 3-1 in their next game against Sporting Clube de Goa, but Aaren was on the scoresheet once more, showing who the leading light is in the team.

Dempo SC earned a late 1-1 draw against the Dev Team in the next match, but the signs of progress were there for all to see, especially with the returning Opi combining well with Aaren and scoring the only Gaur goal of the match.

Coach Derrick Pereira has the Dev Team players playing an exciting brand of football, and the Hero 2nd Division League tournament provided an opportunity to make a real impact on a national stage.

However, a narrow 1-0 loss against FC Bengaluru United was a bit of a setback and not exactly the perfect way to end the month. Despite the defeat however, the mood remains upbeat in the camp, especially with all signs pointing to a good year ahead for the Developmental Team.

The team will continue to juggle their Goa Pro League and 2nd Division League duties as February rolls around.

FC Goa U-18s end January on a high

The FC Goa U-18 team has impressed during its run in the Hero Elite League, and have now tightened their grip at the top of the league standings.

In the Goa area, the U-18s are top at the end of January, a point above second placed Salgaocar, and their performances at the start of the year suggest the future is bright indeed.

The month began positively for the teenagers, with a 1-0 victory over Sporting. The win was followed by a 1-0 defeat against major rivals Salgaocar at Nagoa, but in typical fashion, the youngsters fought back in their next match and won it comfortably against SESA FA, picking up a 1-0 win.

Dempo picked up a point late on in the U-18s last game of the month, a 1-1 draw at Ella, but the performance throughout January bodes well for the rest of 2020.

FC Goa U-16s on the right track

The FC Goa U-16 team was also in action during the month of January, but played only twice in the Hero Junior League tournament.

The team wasn’t at its best during their first match against Salgaocar, losing 2-0, but the defeat certainly brought out a bit of character in the boys.

The second Junior League game was a completely different performance, and it showed in the final scoreline, with a comfortable 2-0 victory coming against SESA FA.

The month ended with a GFA U-16 League game against Churchill Brothers, where the Gaur teens were dominant, scoring goals for fun and winning 5-0 after a commanding display.

FC Goa U-14s go unbeaten in January

Arguably the best of the lot thus far, the FC Goa U-14 team rampaged their way through January, picking up two wins and a draw from their three games in the month.

The first game was played against Sporting, which the teenagers won 3-0 and stamped their authority on the rest of the field.
