Goa Professional League: FC Goa score two late goals to earn 2-2 draw against Panjim Footballers

The FC Goa Developmental Team came from two goals down to secure a point in the Goa Professional League against Panjim Footballers at Duler Ground.

With Leander D’ Cunha suspended, FC Goa were always going to need vocal leadership on the pitch, and Sarineo Fernandes filled in as captain for the day.

The first half saw Kapil Hoble emerge with the first effort of the game within the opening minutes, but his strike flew wide of the goal.

The Gaurs were the dominant team in the first period, with Nestor Dias anchoring midfield, but surprisingly went behind in the game.

Panjim took the lead through a right-footed effort from Lloyd Cardozo after he managed to find his way into the box, but FC Goa retaliated soon after.

Christy Davis went close, while Sweden Fernandes also had a chance to level the game up.

The first half ended 1-0 in the favour of Panjim, but there was all to play for in the second half.

The second half saw the Gaurs up the ante, but the final ball was still not good enough to cause the goalkeeper problems.

As the team in orange went forward, Panjim sensed an opportunity, and after Brian Faria was beaten to a loose ball, it spelled trouble.

A cross into the box was accidentally directed past Dylan Da Silva in the FC Goa goal by Sarineo, and it was 2-0 to Panjim.

Sarineo was sent off moments later for a second yellow card, but there was still time for things to change.

With just ten minutes to go, Aaren D’Silva pulled one back for FC Goa with a lovely finish under pressure, and Kapil Hoble made it 2-2 after a cross from Christy Davis ultimately fell to his feet.

There may have been time to score a winner, but despite peppering the Panjim goal at the end, the Gaurs had to be content with a draw in a highly entertaining clash at Duler.
