Kimberly Fernandez

Kimberly Fernandez, a 25 year-old central defender made her name in the colours of the Maharashtra Senior Women’s team and Bodyline SC. She brings with her a wealth of experience, having already played multiple qualifiers and editions of the Indian Women’s League.

The Mumbai native has signed for her second successive season with FC Goa. Apart from playing football, she also works in football as she runs her own academy in Mumbai and is working in marketing for the Forca Goa Foundation. Football, she says, runs in her blood. Having first kicked a ball at the tender age of 4, she followed the footsteps of her father who is also a decorated footballer. 

Like most other female footballers in the country, Kimberly’s first football experience was training with a local boy’s team. At 13, she was featured in a ‘Dream Team’ that was named by a team of QPR coaches at the end of a week-long training camp that hosted 24 boys and 6 girls. She was one of the only two girls who made it to the list of 11 players that was made up of 9 other boys.
