FCG Recap (2015): Romeo Fernandes stars in 3-2 comeback win for Gaurs vs Delhi Dynamos

Romeo Fernandes was the star of the show in 2015 as FC Goa came back from two goals down to beat Delhi Dynamos in their own backyard.

The comeback win highlighted the positive attitude within the team, and held them in good stead as the season went on.

Hit by a setback early

If the Gaurs believed they had a great opportunity to see this one out easy, they had another thing coming.

Just after the half hour mark, Serginho Greene got on the end of a delivery from former Chelsea star Florent Malouda, and gave the Dynamos an early advantage.

Adil Nabi made it 2-0 soon after, leaving FC Goa with plenty to think about heading into the half-time break.

The comeback begins

FC Goa’s staggering comeback began with an inspired substitution that saw Romeo Fernandes come on with around an hour played.

In no time, Fernandes made the difference, and grabbed an important goal not too long after, cutting in from the right and blasting the ball into the back of the net. 2-1 and game on.

Equaliser in no time

Just a minute or so after grabbing his first, Romeo got his second, and this was a fairly easier finish as he tapped the ball in after a low cross from the left.

Some more time to celebrate, but there was still enough time to go on and find the winner.

Joffre wins it at the death

The Gaurs’ never say die attitude inspired them to stay in the game, and as stoppage time beckoned, there was an opportunity to win it.

Joffre found himself onside and through on goal, and the Spaniard calmly slotted the ball home to complete a remarkable comeback.

The final whistle confirmed a historic victory in sensational circumstances, and kept the blue and orange machine on track for a great finish to the campaign.
