Hero 2nd Division League: FC Goa Dev Team see off Mumbai City Reserves 3-0

The FC Goa Developmental Team took on Mumbai City Reserves at the Nagoa Panchayat Ground and came away with a comfortable 3-0 win.

It was largely a full strength side for FC Goa, who welcomed back Sarineo Fernandes at left back and Dylan Da Silva in goal.

A first start was presented to new signing Lalnunzama, who was handed the responsibility of leading the line for the Gaurs.

Lalnunzama looked a threat from the beginning, eager to get into goal scoring positions, and it was his flick on from a corner that led to the opening goal of the game.

A corner taken by Sarineo was aided by Lalnunzama into the path of Kapil Hoble, who headed the ball into the back of the net.

The early goal helped the team settle, and defensive solidity helped keep the score down to 1-0 at half-time.

The second half saw the Gaurs dominate once more, and the introduction of Aaren D’Silva from the bench paid dividends just ten minutes into the second period.

A lovely ball was played into Aaren, who found himself one-on-one with Mumbai goalkeeper Nishit Shetty, and the forward calmly dinked the ball over him to make it 2-0.

A couple of chances for the Islanders were then dealt with thanks to some brilliant saves from Dylan in the Goa goal, and it wasn’t long before the game was completely put past the visitors.

Sarineo was the player bombing down the left touchline, and he went all the way, firing his shot past Nishit’s near post to make it 3-0.

The strike went in off the post and rounded off a brilliant display from the young Gaurs at Nagoa.

There were chances to add to the goals before the end, but FC Goa will happily take a 3-0 scoreline and continue their rise up the 2nd Division League table.
