A flurry of goals in the second half of the game saw Bengaluru FC Reserves run out 4-1 winners over FC Goa Reserves in the opener of the Hero 2nd Division here at the Nagoa Panchayat Ground in Goa.
Three goals in the space of 14 minutes in the second half sealed the deal for the Blues. Two of them were scored by Altamash Sayed.
The first half was a happy one for the goalkeepers as neither of them had to make a save worthy of note. Whilst Bengaluru enjoyed much of the possession, the game was condensed mostly in the middle of the field with no chances worth talking about.
The second half, however, was a different story altogether. The game suddenly burst into action in the 51st minute of the game when Bengaluru took the lead. The away side made the most of a counter attack that saw them outnumber Goa 2 to 1. Advait Shinde kept his composure before finding the onrushing Roshan Singh who slotted it past the keeper with his first-time shot.
The young Gaurs wouldn’t be behind for long though and hit back in the 65th minute. Brilliant work from Kapil Hoble on the left saw the winger skip past three defenders before putting it on a plate for Aaren D’Silva to slot home.
The moment would, though, prove to be the last of their game as Altamesh Sayed put on a show late on. The midfielder’s double strike – first from a free-kick and then a clinical finish from the edge of the box would be two blows too much for the Gaurs to take in.
The home side would go on to concede another goal late on as Leon Augustine was able to find space at the near post before glancing in a header past the keeper in the 81st minute.
FC Goa Reserves will look to get their first points when they take on Hindustan FC next on January 21.
