FC Goa Dev Team comfortably see off Signals challenge thanks to Aaren brace

The FC Goa Development Team were on fire against Corps of Signals at the Corps Ground, 3MTR in Madgaon, scoring thrice and grabbing a comfortable 3-1 victory to win yet another Goa Pro League encounter.

Manager Derrick Pereira went with a solid eleven to start this one, with a seemingly attacking 4-2-3-1 formation, and the decision paid dividends early on.

A continued spell of position for the FC Goa Dev Team in the first half was rewarded with a goal as early as the 18th minute of the match, when a scramble in the Signals box resulted in the ball falling to Leander D’Cunha, who guided the ball into the back of the net.

While the home support would have been keen on a response from their side, it was the visitors who continued their rampage forward, and were awarded a second goal in the 26th minute of the game, this time a scrappy finish from Aaren D’Silva who appeared to be leading the line for the FC Goa Dev Team.

The second goal appeared to galvanise the Signals side, who fought back and found some chances of their own, before a lapse in judgment by FC Goa Dev Team keeper Antonio Dylan Inacio Da Silva resulted in a tap in for Shuklab Bordoloi.

The Signals skipper wheeled off in celebration and the scoreline read 2-1 with just over half an hour played.

As the first half drew to a close, Signals threatened even more, but the opposition retaliated, and at half-time the game was locked at 2-1.

The Gaurs started the second half brightly and had restored their two goal advantage in a matter of minutes as a lovely piece of interplay resulted in a pass to Aaren D’Silva who slotted home to grab his second of the game.

The goal came after some terrific teamwork from the Dev Team players and is a testament to their exciting brand of football under Derrick Pereira. With the game now in favour of the Gaurs, their dominance showed.

FC Goa were comfortable in possession for the most part, and well timed breaks in play helped their cause as the clock ran down, with goal scoring chances at a premium for both teams.

Inevitably, fatigue set in to both sides as the game approached the end, and a few substitutions took the sting out of it and the Gaurs saw the game out expertly to take home a 3-1 victory.
