Odisha FC vs FC Goa: 3 Gaurs to watch out for

FC Goa are flying high after their gritty 3-2 win over Kerala Blasters at home on Saturday, and have an opportunity to add to their win column again as they face off against Odisha FC.

Hugo Boumous was the star of the show against the Blasters, scoring twice for the Gaurs, but there are other players who could be just as influential at the Kalinga Stadium on Wednesday.

Keeping that in mind, here are three players who could make the difference for the Men in Orange.

#3 Lenny Rodrigues

Lenny is one of those players whose importance to FC Goa cannot be overstated. The Goan has played in all 14 ISL matches for the Gaurs this season, also scoring twice.

“Mr. Dependable” recently got married, and soon after put in a strong performance to help his side see off Kerala in a tricky game at home.

Against Odisha, his vision and endeavour in midfield could prove vital if FC Goa want to continue their good form, and one can bet that Lenny won’t disappoint.

#2 Edu Bedia

Edu has been a silent utility man for FC Goa this season, owing to the good form shown by fellow foreign players in Ahmed Jahouh and Hugo Boumous, but he still remains an essential part of Sergio Lobera’s squad.

The Spaniard will almost surely start against Odisha because of Jahouh being suspended, and will be keen to prove his worth to the manager at a crucial period in the campaign.

The 30-year-old hasn’t been called upon very often, but when he has, Edu has remained solid in possession and can chip in with goals and assists when given a continued run in the team.

The match against Odisha is a big one for Edu Bedia, and we’re backing him to succeed.

#3 Hugo Boumous

It is impossible to keep this man out of the game at the moment. Hugo Boumous is proving to be the difference maker for the Gaurs when Coro isn’t firing, and chances are that he’ll show his class again at the Kalinga Stadium.

Boumous has bagged two successive Gaur of the match awards and for good reason, gliding past opposition players and providing the numbers in the the goals and assists column.

The Frenchman now has six goals to his name this season, just two behind top scorer Coro, and should he find himself in front of goal against Odisha, his current form suggests he’ll take the chance with ease.
