FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC: 3 Gaurs to watch out for

FC Goa have qualified for the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) playoffs thanks to their comfortable 4-1 victory over Hyderabad FC last time out, but the Gaurs continue their push to finish top of the table as they take on Mumbai City FC next at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda.

The last time the two sides clashed, goals were aplenty, with FC Goa returning home with a satisfying 4-2 win over the Islanders.

This time around, we can expect something similar, and three players just might be vital to ensure this happens. Here are three Gaurs to watch out for against Mumbai City:

#3 Ahmed Jahouh

The midfield could prove key as both sides aim to pick up possession in the middle of the park, and Ahmed Jahouh may well be the man to make FC Goa tick once more.

The numbers seem to suggest that Jahouh is among the most rugged players in the ISL, with 134 tackles to his name, more than any other player in the competition this season.

The Moroccan’s long balls have become synonymous with his play, and should he arrow a few more with precision, it could cause all sorts of problems for the Mumbai defence.

#2 Ferran Corominas

Want to win a game against FC Goa? Start by stopping this man from finding the back of the net.

The man known as Coro has scored 11 goals this season, and bagged a brace the last time the Gaurs were in action.

History seems to suggest that the net could ripple with a Coro rocket once more on Wednesday, and the Mumbai backline will need to be at their solid best to stop the menacing runs of the Spaniard.

Always a danger man, Coro is back to his best, and the Fortress may well bear witness to a masterclass in goal poaching very soon.

#1 Hugo Boumous

Words cannot describe the genius of this man. Hugo Boumous is at his glowing best in an orange shirt, and it couldn’t come at a better time for the Gaurs.

A masterful display against Odisha FC was backed up by a scintillating show of power, class, quality and leadership against Hyderabad.

If there was ever any doubt about Boumous’ consistency, that certainly has been put to rest with just two games of the season remaining.

Rest assured, he will be the key component in the attacking third for the home side against Mumbai as well, and the Islanders’ defenders face an uphill task dealing with his sheer determination and obvious footballing talent.
