FC Goa vs Hyderabad FC: 3 Gaurs to watch out for

FC Goa’s next challenge in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) comes on Wednesday in the form of bottom side Hyderabad FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.

The Gaurs would be expected to win this game based on the current table, but with several former FC Goa players now on the books of Hyderabad, a sense of familiarity could still make a difference.

Under the management of Derrick Pereira, FC Goa will be keen to impress, and here are three players who could make a difference:

#3 Seriton Fernandes

FC Goa’s undisputed right back, Seriton Fernandes has more than made the position his own, and continues to impress as the season rolls on.

The Goan will need to be at his best against the threat of Hyderabad too, especially with the visitors desperate to score goals and win matches towards the end of the campaign.

He may have just one assist thus far, but Seriton is certainly capable of delivering decent balls into the box for the likes of Coro and Hugo Boumous to possibly score from.

#2 Mandar Rao Dessai

Captain fantastic will need to be at the top of his game both positionally as well as in terms of leadership skills.

Under new management, Mandar Rao Dessai will be tasked with getting the most out of his teammates against Hyderabad FC, and like always, expect him to deliver.

Mandar will be on his toes defensively at left back, but his attacking prowess could help FC Goa score some goals too when Hyderabad come to town.

#1 Jackichand Singh

It’s impossible to keep this man out of the game. Jackichand Singh is well and truly the danger man for the Gaurs these days, and expect more of the same against Hyderabad FC.

Jacki scored two the last time we played in the ISL, and his recent record at Fatorda suggests he could be on the score sheet once more on Wednesday.

The right wing will be busy with Jacki running along it, and we’re backing him to be involved in a number of goal scoring chances once the game begins.
